2018 Team Football
Over the last couple of months we have identified a real enthusiasm from many of our 2018’s to play and learn more about the game. Where and when possible, we are always keen to explore opportunities that will not only continue to excite and enthuse our young players, but also challenge them in a positive and enriching environment.
If your child is already playing with us at Park Sports Project, they will be playing at one or more of our Play Football sessions during the week. Our Play Football sessions are a perfect place for children to learn and fall in love with the game. During their time at Play Football, our younger players will be exposed to the fundamental skills and social interactions required to fully enjoy and appreciate the game.
As we head towards the end of the year, we are looking ahead to 2025 and creating additional and exciting opportunities for this group of players. We are looking at the possibility of entering a team(s) into the Glasgow and District Youth Football League (GADYFL) Fun 4’s programme.
The GADYFL Fun 4’s programme has clubs from Glasgow and surrounding areas come together on Sunday mornings to play friendly matches. Below is a brief summary of what is involved.
The season runs from March - November 2025 (break for main holidays)
Sunday mornings (start times will typically be 9am, 10am or 11am)
Games will be played at Toryglen Football Centre (Indoor Astro)
Sessions / matches will run for max of 60 minutes each week
Teams will play x4 games each week (approx 10 minutes per game)
We have had great success in sending other age groups to these games as an introduction to our Team Football programme. We believe it gives the children who have a early enthusiasm for the game, an opportunity to test themselves in a more competitive but fun environment.
We always like to highlight that there is a commitment in sending players and teams along to this programme. There is an expectation from the GADYFL that all participating teams fulfil all their fixtures during the season. To do this majority of players who commit to playing must be available each week.
From experience and feedback, PSP groups that have taken part in the GADYFL Fun 4’s Programme have always come away with positive and rewarding experiences. As well as these experiences it also serves children and volunteers well in preparing them for moving into our Team Football programme.
To note your child’s interest to participate in these games and to learn more about the GADYFL Fun 4’s programme, it would be greatly appreciated if you can complete the form below.
To facilitate games we typically require 2-4 additional volunteers to help support on Sunday mornings. This has been a successful model for our other age groups and volunteers are really enjoying the opportunities to support on matchdays. Volunteers are pivotal in us being able to facilitate matchday opportunities at the weekend. On the form below please indicate if you are in a position / interested in volunteering.
If you have any questions about our 2018 Team Football programme please don’t hesitate to get in touch and one of the team will be happy to answer any questions .
